This craftsman-style Homearama home looks unlike anything else in Norton Commons

Located in The Hamlet, an exclusive Oldham County section of Norton Commons, the house affectionately dubbed “Lilly” is a result of a monthslong project by Joe Kroll Builder.

“(It started) last December,” Kroll told The Courier Journal. “The homeowner had a lot of input to the design. It’s a unique house — there’s no other house in Norton Commons that looks like it.”

First-floor living

As soon as one walks through the front door, Kroll explains, they’ll notice that Lilly is unlike most homes in the neighborhood. For starters, this house has a foyer — and a large, brick accent wall immediately to the right.

The great room features window seats on both sides of the fireplace and flows into the kitchen, which opens to a screened-in fireplace porch via large sliding accordion doors that essentially transform the rooms into one large space.

A walk-in pantry was built along one side of the kitchen, cleverly disguised as cabinetry while offering enough space to store everything from food and beverages to dishes and small appliances. The dining area provides seating for six and opens to another small porch.

“(One of the downstairs bedrooms) is for aging parents, when they come over,” Kroll said, “but it can also be used as an office. It has its own private bath as well.”

Down the hall, a bright and bold powder room is conveniently located to accommodate guests. Just past it is the main bedroom suite; its large bathroom boasts a long double vanity as well as a spacious shower with multiple rain showerheads and connects to a walk-in closet with lots of built-in drawers.
